Brief stop for lunch

The Orange County Garden Railway Society was established in 1996 by a group of like minded folks with the love of large scale model railroads and gardening. Today, we have approximately 50 member families that enjoy the hobby. The club is family oriented, membership includes all members of the family.

We meet at member’s homes once a month (usually the second Sunday of the month) to socialize and enjoy a pot luck lunch. Activities include announcements of upcoming train events, regional and national conventions, modeling ideas, sometimes a guest speaker and usually a raffle of railroad equipment.

Member’s home garden railroads are varied in complexity, style and operation. Ranging from a simple loop of track with a few flowers planted nearby to large layouts with the ability to run multiple trains. Some railroads focus more on the gardening aspect, some on prototypical railroads and others more whimsical. All garden railroads are unique and have something to offer for the visitor.

Our members have a variety of skills and interests. Including electronics, modeling rolling stock and buildings, animation, operation and of course gardening. Not all members have a home garden railroad, and either plan on building one or just enjoying the railroads of other members.

As a new member, you will have the opportunity to garner ideas from other home railroads, learn from those that may have more experience, and of course enjoy the social aspect of the club.
